A coastal town with a remarkable holiday activity, Nea Kallikratia was founded by refugees who came from Kallikratia of Eastern Thrace and Asia Minor. In the area of Nea Kallikratia, which was inhabited since Prehistoric times, the daughter of Kallikratia (a marble column, a tombstone of the Classical Times), discovered in the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, was discovered. In the small harbor of the town there are boats and fishing boats. New Callikratia has 6,204 inhabitants. It is 48.5 km southwest of Polygyros.
