Mykonos is a Cycladic island surrounded by the islands of Tenos, Syros, Paros and Naxos in the Aegean Archipelago. The largest town of Mykonos, Chora, lies in the west coast of the island.

Up to the end of the 18th century Mykonos was thriving as a center of commerce, attracting both people from the nearby islands, and pirates as well.
The Battle of Mykonos was fought between British and French ships in June 1794, in the island’s main harbour.
Mykonos is one of the first Greek islands that was touristically developed already in the 1960’s, when tourists strarted pouring into the island. Today, the night life of Mykonos is considered to be one of the most lively and stimulating in Europe. The most well known spot on the island is the row of fishing houses built next to the sea called Little Venice, due to the fact that it brings to mind the city of Venice.
Now Mykonos is world known for it’s crazy night life .
