Charming Katakolo
Discover the picturesque little port of Katakolo with its fishing boats and seafood tavernas. A bit further north, at Agios Andreas, you’ll find the best beach bars in the area in small bays ideal for dips and parties. To the south begins that astounding beach whose golden dunes stretch all the way to Kyparissia.


The castle

One of the most enchanting parts of Katakolo, which you must definitely visit, is the castle, also known as Ponikokastro.

The lighthouse

An important part of Catalun is also the lighthouse. It is located on the Cape of Catalun, on the southwest side of it. It was built in 1865 and the height of the tower made of stone reaches 9 meters and its focal height is 45 meters.

The church of Ag. Nicholas

A very beautiful spot of the village is the church of Agios Nikolaos in the central square. Renovated, it gives a special color and blends nicely with the whole environment.

Museum of Ancient Greek Technology

On the eastern side of the central square of Katakolo, opposite the railway station, under the auspices of the Municipality of Pyrgos, the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology, where about 250 reliable and functional models of ancient Greek inventions are exhibited.
Museum of Ancient Greek Musical Instruments and Toys

Opposite the central square of Katakolos, the Museum of Ancient Greek Musical Instruments and Toys (The Museum of Ancient Greek Musical Instruments and Toys) operates on the main street of the building of Latsis (under the auspices of the Municipality of Pyrgos) where 42 reconstructed musical instruments of the ancient Greeks and numerous ancient Greek games accompanied with detailed descriptions and diagrams after research, design and construction by Kostas Kotsana. The exhibits are accompanied by rich audiovisual material (in Greek and English) and many of them are interactive. It is the most complete and the most reliable museum of its kind in the world.
